Rivian was founded in 2009 by Robert Scaringe.
Initially, the company aimed to produce a sports car, but the plan shifted to electric SUVs and pickup trucks.
Rivian gained significant attention in 2018 when it unveiled its R1T pickup and R1S SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Amazon has a stake in Rivian and has ordered 100,000 electric delivery vans.
Here's a little-known fact: Rivian's initial name was Mainstream Motors. Scaringe kept the company in stealth mode for years, operating under this name while developing the technology and design. The name "Rivian" wasn't adopted until later, inspired by the Indian River Lagoon in Florida, a place Scaringe frequented during his youth.
