Proteus Cars, a British marque, emerged in the early 1950s.

Two engineers, Ron Heerey and Peter Fillipini, built a sports racing car. They named it Proteus, after the Greek god of the sea.

Their initial offering was the Proteus C Type. It featured an aluminum body and advanced suspension.

Production was limited, with estimates suggesting fewer than 20 cars were ever made.

A lesser-known fact: One Proteus car was raced extensively in the UK. It achieved notable success in club racing events during the mid-1950s.
