Piaggio, an Italian vehicle manufacturer, was founded by Rinaldo Piaggio in 1884.
Initially, Piaggio focused on shipbuilding, later expanding into aircraft production during World War I.
After the war, with the need for affordable transportation, Piaggio conceived the Vespa scooter, patented in April 1946.
The Vespa quickly became a symbol of post-war Italy and a global icon.
