Ner-a-car, produced from 1921 to 1927, was known for its hub-center steering, a feature intended to improve handling.
Carl Neracher designed it, aiming for car-like handling in a motorcycle. Sheffield-Henderson produced early models. Later, the British Sheffield-Simplex took over production.
A lesser-known story: Ner-a-cars were marketed towards women. Ads emphasized ease of use and clean operation, contrasting them with "dirty" motorcycles. The marketing angle aimed to broaden motorcycle appeal beyond traditional male riders.
