Mobile was an early American car, produced in Tarrytown, NY, from 1900-1903 by the Mobile Company of America. Founded by John Brisben Walker, the company initially focused on steam-powered vehicles.
The Mobile Steamer was known for its affordability and simple design. However, its reliance on steam made it less practical than gasoline-powered rivals.
A lesser-known fact: Mobile faced legal challenges from the Locomobile Company of America, which claimed patent infringements. This contributed to Mobile's relatively short production run.
