MG Midget, a small, two-seater sports car, was produced by MG from 1961 to 1979. It revived a name used on pre-war models.

The Midget was essentially a rebadged version of the Austin-Healey Sprite. Both cars were initially designed to be affordable sports cars.

A lesser-known story: the Midget's development was influenced by BMC's (British Motor Corporation) desire to compete with the Triumph Spitfire. The Spitfire was gaining popularity, so BMC needed a rival. The Midget, with its lower price point, aimed to capture a segment of the market.
