Isuzu started in 1916 as Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding, building ships.
They partnered with Wolseley in 1918 to build cars.
In 1934, they named their cars Isuzu, after a river.
Post-WWII, they focused on commercial vehicles and diesels.
Did you know Isuzu once made the Bellett, a stylish little car in the 60s? It was Japan's first car with independent rear suspension.
