Haynes Publishing Group's story began in 1960. John Haynes, while still in school, decided to rebuild an Austin 7. He documented the process, creating a guide.
This guide became so popular among his peers that he self-published it. The first official Haynes Owners Workshop Manual was for the Austin-Healey Sprite, in 1966.
Did you know that Haynes manuals once featured a model disassembling an engine in a bikini? It was a marketing stunt in the 1970s, aiming to grab attention. It definitely sparked controversy and conversation.
