Gilbern, a Welsh car manufacturer, emerged in 1959.
Giles Smith and Bernard Friese founded it.
Their cars combined glass fiber bodies with mechanical components sourced from other manufacturers.
The cars were initially produced in a small workshop in Llantwit Fardre, near Pontypridd.
Gilbern produced approximately 1,000 cars before ceasing production in 1973.
Did you know that early Gilbern models were often sold in kit form to avoid purchase tax? This loophole allowed enthusiasts to own a Gilbern at a reduced cost, but it also meant that the quality of the final product could vary widely depending on the builder's skill.
