GEM, or Global Electric Motorcars, was acquired by Polaris Industries in 2011. GEM was initially a Chrysler venture in 1998.
GEM vehicles are low-speed vehicles (LSVs), designed for use in planned communities, campuses, and urban environments.
Did you know that early GEM cars were sometimes called "Neighborhood Electric Vehicles" or NEVs? These cars were designed to be street-legal on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less.
