Every Model
EMW, or Eisenacher Motorenwerk, emerged from the remnants of BMW's Eisenach factory after World War II.
Due to the factory residing in Soviet-controlled East Germany, BMW in Munich lost control. Initially, cars were badged as BMWs, but a trademark dispute led to the change to EMW in 1952.
EMW cars, like the 340, were similar to pre-war BMW models.
A lesser-known fact: EMW's red-and-white logo was a direct response to BMW's blue-and-white roundel, symbolizing a clear break from its Bavarian origins.
