Diamond T, founded in Chicago in 1905 by C.A. Tilt, initially produced automobiles.
Tilt supposedly created the name after his father's shoe company, "Diamond Brand Shoes," adding "T" for Tilt.
They soon shifted focus to trucks, gaining a reputation for durable, stylish vehicles.
During World War II, Diamond T built trucks for the US military.
After the war, they continued truck production until 1967, when White Motor Company acquired them.
A little-known fact: Diamond T trucks were favored by Hollywood studios in the 1930s and 40s. Their art deco styling made them ideal for movie sets, often appearing as background vehicles in classic films.
