DeLorean Motor Company, founded by John DeLorean in 1975, is known for its single model, the DMC-12.
The car featured a stainless steel body and gull-wing doors. Production occurred in Northern Ireland from 1981-1982.
The company went bankrupt in 1982.
Did you know DeLorean initially wanted a Wankel rotary engine? He explored using one from Citroen, but it didn't pan out due to engineering and cost hurdles.
