Continental, a marque of the Lincoln Motor Company, emerged in 1939, conceived by Edsel Ford.
The story goes that Edsel wanted a unique, stylish car for his Florida vacation. He tasked chief stylist Eugene Gregorie with creating a personal vehicle, resulting in the first Continental. Its elegant design, marked by a long hood and short trunk, was a hit among Edsel's wealthy friends, prompting its production.
A little-known fact: the Continental was initially intended to be a one-off custom car. However, the overwhelming positive reception led Lincoln to add it to their production line, marking its place in automotive history.
