Berliet, a French manufacturer, started in 1899. Marius Berliet founded it in Lyon. Initially, they produced cars, then shifted to trucks.
During World War I, Berliet played a crucial role. They mass-produced trucks for the French Army. This contribution was vital to the war effort.
Did you know Berliet once built tanks? In 1917, they produced the Char Berliet tank. It was based on Renault's design, but Berliet manufactured it. Not many know their involvement in tank production during the war.
