British American Racing (BAR) was a Formula One constructor that participated from 1999 to 2005.
Craig Pollock, Jacques Villeneuve's manager, founded the team after purchasing Tyrrell.
BAR aimed high, promising to win a race in its debut season, but the team struggled initially.
Honda became the engine supplier in 2000 and increased its involvement over time.
In 2004, BAR achieved second place in the Constructors' Championship.
Honda bought the team outright in late 2005, renaming it Honda Racing F1 for 2006.
Did you know BAR initially wanted to run different liveries on its cars, one for each driver? The FIA rejected this, enforcing a rule for identical team liveries. BAR then came up with a compromise, a split livery, with Villeneuve on one side and Ricardo Zonta on the other, but this was also rejected, so they had to go with a single livery.
