Audi's story began with August Horch, a pioneer in the automotive industry. After being ousted from his own company, Horch, he started a new venture in 1909.
Unable to use his name, he cleverly chose "Audi," the Latin equivalent of "Horch."
One lesser-known tale involves Audi's pre-World War II racing dominance as part of Auto Union. Their Silver Arrow cars, with Ferdinand Porsche's design, were formidable. What's interesting is that after the war, the technology and expertise behind these racers were scattered. Some ended up in the Soviet Union, influencing their automotive development.
