ASA, short for Autocostruzioni Società per Azioni, was an Italian car manufacturer founded in 1961.
Initially linked to Ferrari, ASA aimed to produce smaller, more affordable sports cars. Their most famous model was the ASA 1000 GT, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone.
The 1000 GT featured a sophisticated four-cylinder engine. Despite its technical merits and elegant design, ASA struggled financially.
Production ceased in the late 1960s.
Here's a lesser-known story: Enzo Ferrari envisioned ASA as a way to enter a different market segment without diluting the Ferrari brand. He wanted to offer a smaller, more accessible sports car. The ASA 1000 GT was nicknamed "Ferrarina" (little Ferrari).
