Argyll, a Scottish car manufacturer, produced vehicles from 1899 to 1932. Based in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, Argyll was known for its innovative engineering.
The company built a massive, advanced factory, nicknamed "Argyll Palace," but it proved too ambitious. Despite producing quality cars, financial difficulties led to its closure.
A lesser-known story: Argyll pioneered the use of Knight sleeve-valve engines in their cars. These engines were quieter than traditional poppet valve engines. This was a big deal for luxury car buyers at the time.
