Apollo was the brainchild of Milt Brown and Ned Davis, who wanted to create an American sports car with European flair.
In 1962, they commissioned a young Italian designer, Franco Scaglione, to pen the sleek body.
Intermeccanica, an Italian coachbuilder, handled the construction.
The Apollo GT featured a Buick-sourced V8 engine, offering both performance and reliability.
Production was limited, with only around 40 cars built between 1962 and 1965.
Did you know Apollo almost became "Thor"? Before settling on Apollo, Brown and Davis considered naming their car "Thor," aiming for a powerful, mythological image. However, they ultimately chose Apollo, associating the car with speed, beauty, and the Greek god of the sun.
