Amilcar, a French car maker, started in 1921 and ended in 1939. Edmond Moyet and Emile Akar founded it. They made small, sporty cars.
Amilcar gained fame in racing. Their cars were light and quick. The "Cyclecars" were popular. These were small, affordable sports cars.
Did you know Amilcar once built a front-wheel-drive car? It was in the late 1930s. It was called the Amilcar Pégase. Sadly, it didn't last long due to financial issues.
