Tell Me More
The McLaren M6 GT was Bruce McLaren's road-going project based on his Can-Am race car, the M6A. He intended to produce a limited run, but only a few prototypes were made before his death in 1970.
One M6 GT was road-registered and used by McLaren. It was incredibly fast, but also impractical. The car was known for its raw power and aggressive styling.
There wasn't a direct successor, but the later McLaren F1 took inspiration from Bruce's vision of a high-performance road car.
Few know that McLaren initially planned to offer the M6 GT as a kit car. This would allow enthusiasts to build their own version of the ultimate road racer.
