The Jeep Commando, produced by Kaiser Jeep from 1966-1971, was designed as a competitor to the Ford Bronco and Toyota Land Cruiser. It came in various body styles, including a pickup truck, convertible, and wagon.
American Motors Corporation (AMC) acquired Kaiser Jeep in 1970, and in 1972, the Commando was redesigned with a new front end, resembling the Jeep Cherokee. This redesign was not well-received, and production ceased in 1973.
