Oldsmobile was founded by Ransom Eli Olds in 1897 in Lansing, Michigan. It became the first mass-produced car in the United States, and was the first brand to offer an assembly line. Oldsmobile was acquired by General Motors in 1908, and became part of the GM family of brands. Oldsmobile went on to produce many popular cars such as the Cutlass, 442, and the Toronado. Production of Oldsmobile vehicles ended in 2004.
