Background:
The Scimitar was Reliant’s flagship model line running from 1968 through to 1986.
The original coupe bodied ‘GT’ was unveiled in 1964 before the most popular ‘GTE’ shooting brake version was released in 1968.
A four-seater convertible, the ‘GTC’, was produced in smaller numbers from 1980.
All models had a fibreglass body and Ford engines, originally unveiled with the Zephyr six-cylinder before moving to the Essex and Cologne V6.
Over 14,000 ‘GTE’ models were produced across five versions.
The Car:
This one owner example was purchased new from Hamble Motors of Southampton in 1978 and spent its first year in Jersey wearing its original registration, UOX 149S, before being registered with the Jersey registration J37076.
