The TR3A was Triumph’s definitive 1950s roadster – a rugged, charismatic sports car offering lively performance from its torquey 2-litre four-cylinder engine and timeless open-top design
It was never officially badged as a TR3a but was, in fact, a minor revision of the TR3, with updates including a new wide grille, exterior door handles, lockable boot and a full toolkit
The example you see here was imported from California in 2011 by Prodrive senior engineer, Richard Thompson, who heads their Prodrive Legends operation and undertook a comprehensive body-off restoration to an exceptional standard
The chassis was stripped, blasted and repainted, while the body was refurbished and repainted in its original Powder Blue by Normandale Bodyworks of Daventry
Mechanical components were comprehensively rebuilt including the engine, gearbox, rear axle and braking system.
Fitted with a new wiring loom and the instruments and dash assembly were fully refurbished
