Introduced in late 1967 and produced for only one year, the Series I.5 bridged the gap between the early Series I and the later Series 2.
It retained the purity of the original design, slim bumpers, and elegant tail treatment, while incorporating several updates to improve drivability, reliability, and compliance with emerging US safety regulations.
Jaguar claimed 21 individual refinements, including better cooling, improved electrical systems, and subtly revised interior.
The result was a car that maintained the Series I’s visual grace but offered a touch more comfort and practicality.
Power came from the proven 4.2-litre XK straight-six, paired with a fully synchromesh 4-speed gearbox, delivering smooth, flexible performance and a wonderfully linear torque curve.
Independent suspension and disc brakes all round gave the E-Type its famed balance and poise, while refined steering and enhanced cooling made it one of the most capable sports cars of its day.
