Attractive early Mk2 iteration
Mk2 with the stiffer chassis over the Mk1
The Mazda MX5 has long been celebrated as one of the greatest driver’s cars ever built, the Mk2 offering improved aerodynamics, a stiffer chassis, thicker anti-roll bars and a fixed headlight design.
A 1.8 litre twin-cam four-cylinder engine was the one to go for, producing 140bhp paired with Mazda’s superb 5-speed manual transmission.
With an approximate 50:50 front/rear weight balance, the car had very neutral handling; easy to drive for the beginner, and fun for the advanced driver.
Finished in dark green with a black and grey cloth interior, this 1.8 litre example features a black soft-top roof in good condition.
The bodywork for its age is in good condition with a few chips in the paintwork, and it's nice to see the original alloy wheels are still on the car.
