Built in July 1971 and first registered on 1st August 1971, this Ford Escort Mexico is one of just 17 competition-prepared examples produced by Ford's Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) department.
Race-prepared at Boreham, the fleet was supplied to Ford France for the 1971 Tour de France Automobile, where this car, finished in Maize Yellow, was driven by José Albertini with René Cipriani of Nice-Matin.
Following the Tour, the fleet returned to the UK to contest the famous Jack Brabham Trophy for Formula 1 Team Managers at Brands Hatch on 24th October 1971.
