ODOMETER
1940 Ford Pickup

This 1940 Ford pickup truck is powered by the legendary flathead 221-cid, 85-hp V-8 engine and is a 2014 AACA Grand National First Place Winner. It exhibits a fresh “every nut-and-bolt, frame-off restoration” that also received the AACA George M. Holley Excellence Award in 2013 for outstanding restoration of a 1921 through 1942 antique vehicle. This is a rare all-steel original version that is thought to be one of the very few that has not been modified in any way; painted in its original Black with Straw pinstriping. The truck is stated to have spent its entire life on a farm in Tennessee until its restoration in 2011. It retains its original engine (specifications above), and drivetrain that have been completely rebuilt and “perform wonderfully.” Not only does this award-winning truck look stunning on its exterior, but the interior too, with the same level of detail exemplified. This carries through to the engine bay and undercarriage with attention paid to every detail throughout. The exacting restoration continues in the truck cargo bed – this is stated by the owner to be correct with oak floor covered with hand-formed steel as it came from Ford when new. He shares with us that this is generally a detail that has been overlooked by many restorers who may opt for different presentations. Awards documented by the AACA: First – Junior – 2011 First – Senior – 2013 George M. Holley Excellence – 2013 First Preservation – 2014 Second Preservation – 2014 First - Grand Nationals - 2014
