1936 Ford Model 68 Phaeton
This is a 1936 Ford Phaeton Model 68 Convertible. Originally built in Canada from a production run of only 5,500 vehicles and exported to South Africa as original RHD and imported and registered in UK in 1997. This model was never offered to the UK market and as such, is a rare example, and is presented in Ford Tacamato Cream, with Biscuit Vinyl interior and fabric roof. The vendor has owned the car since 1997, and has undertaken an extensive restoration to include the following: ENGINE Complete rebuild with upgraded components. Aluminium cylinder heads, Edlebrock Slingshot manifold with twin Stromberg 97 carburettors. Bespoke hand made alloy radiator with sealed cooling system. Full flow oil system and oil cooler. BRAKES Dual system with front disc brakes and 7" servo. RUNNING GEAR Front axle completely rebuilt. Rear axle completely rebuilt with 3.4 differential. New prop shaft. Rear springs refurbished and powder coated. Poly-bushes fitted. Telescopic shock absorbers. New wheel bearings. New steering box and ancillary items. Bespoke alloy fuel tank. ELECTRICS Converted to 12 volt negative earth. Electronic ignition. Electronic fuel pump. Rewired with new fuse boxes INTERIOR Seats refurbished in Vinyl. Bespoke carpet set. Original woodwork. Uprated gauges. New hood with side screens, hood cover and protective door cappings. ON THE ROAD Once restored the car was used regularly for weddings. The vendor has covered 25,000 miles since 1997. The car runs and performs impeccably and drives without fault.
