ODOMETER
1983 Ferrari 400I Straman

Chassis no. ZFFEB06B000043385 4,823-cc, 310-hp DOHC V-12 engine, three-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel coil spring independent suspension and four-wheel power hydraulic disc brakes. Wheelbase: 106.3-inches Ferrari’s 400i, introduced in 1976, was a successor to the 365 GT/4 2+2. A four-passenger GT car, it has a Pininfarina-designed body and optional automatic transmission. Produced in limited numbers, it is considered by many to be a contemporary classic. Ferrari neglected to build a convertible version of the 400i, but some customers were not to be deprived. This has created a market for California customizer Richard Straman of Costa Mesa, who over the last 40 years has converted countless Ferraris and other exotic cars to soft-top configuration. This involves more than simply removing the roof, as the chassis must be strengthened to withstand addition stresses. This Ferrari 400i was once owned by rock legend Rod Stewart. Black with black canvas top, it shows excellent workmanship, but is in need of some detail work. The body contours are excellent and the paint is very good. The interior shows only modest age, but needs cleaning. The engine compartment is generally clean but not detailed, while the undercarriage appears original and commensurate with the near-23,000 miles indicated. The car is equipped with power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, power windows and a Sony cassette stereo. For those seriously craving the open air, a Straman convertible Ferrari is the way to go.

FACT

Because, well, why not...?

Though most think it’s Italian, pepperoni is an American invention. The first use of the word dates back to 1919.
