Chassis: L210-8-108244. Non-Running Project. TMU. Disassembled 988cc Inline-Four. Replacement Engine Components Included. No Transmission. LHD Example. 15" Six-Lug Wheels. Private Party or Dealer: Private Party
This 1958 Datsun 1000 L210 is a non-running project that was acquired by the seller seven months ago. This LHD example is believed to be one of the first Datsuns that was imported to the US and comes with a 988cc inline-four, which has been removed and disassembled. Several newer engine components are also included, though the 4-speed manual transmission, seats, and bumpers are not present. This Datsun 1000 is now being offered for sale at no reserve with a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name. Built upon a truck-based platform, the Datsun 1000 features a solid front axle on leaf springs and six-lug 15” wheels. The body shows surface rust throughout, but is described as a good candidate for restoration or re-assembly. Some dents around a rear wheel well are shown in the gallery. The rear window glass and front grille are uninstalled and included in the sale, but no bumpers are available. The interior has been stripped apart from the dash panel, which features a two-spoke steering wheel with a four-speed column gearshift. Door panels appear partially-intact on the rear doors, and some loose wiring remains under the dash and on the steering column. Based upon Austin mechanicals, the 988cc inline-four produced 37 horsepower from the factory. The engine has been removed and disassembled, and some newer engine components come with the car, including pistons, rings, and bearings that are still in their packaging. According to the seller, the cylinder head appears to have had a valve job. The 4-speed manual transmission is absent, along with some linkage components. It is unknown how recently the vehicle was last operational.
