ODOMETER
1954 Chevrolet Stepside Pick-up 3100

Chevrolet's advance-design generation of trucks, introduced in 1947, received its first major restyle in 1954, including a triple row of large horizontal grille bars bisected by a vertical bar and the windscreen was replaced by a single curved piece of glass. Chief engineer Ed Cole also changed the engine from the 216.5 cubic-inch Thrift Master six to the 235.5 cubic-inch from Chevrolet larger Load-Master trucks. The 1954 models perhaps best represent the sum of all Advance Design trucks of 1948 through to 1955. From World War I through the 1920s, pickups were simply barebones workhorses sold with chassis and cowl only. No types of body were offered and as for comfort and safety, they were not a consideration. This 1954 model represented a reflection of a new, different type of owner who saw the truck as a multipurpose vehicle and not just a workhorse. This 1954 Chevy is in excellent condition with every nut, bolt, washer, rubber and glass restored or replaced. The six cylinder, 235 cubic inch engine has been replaced in the last 12 months with the correct, fully rebuilt six cylinder unit. When the truck was restored the three speed gearbox was rebuilt, along with new brakes, axels and wiring loom. Finished in its original shade of forest green, the truck boasts a polished Oak load bed with stainless steel strips and a factory side mounted spare wheel. More recently the six volt electrical system has been replaced with a 12 volt system. The history shows that this Chevy was supplied new to Chumney Tractor Company and was registered in Texas. Supplied here with a V5 registration document, the old US Certificate of Title, old MoT test certificates, workshop manual and a large file of bills and invoices. Also comes with a handy gun rack behind driver's seat..
