This 1972 Chevrolet Camaro SS is finished in red over a black interior and is powered by a numbers-matching 402ci LS3 V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear end. The car underwent a refurbishment over three decades ago and was acquired by the seller in October 2021. Features include Rally Sport-style front bumpers and parking lights, a dual exhaust system, a front and rear spoiler, air conditioning, front disc brakes, a Hurst shifter, Cragar wheels, and a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. This Camaro SS is now offered with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name. Finished from the factory in Golden Brown (57), the car was refurbished during the late 1980s and repainted red. Equipment includes a Rally Sport-style front grille, split bumpers, and front parking lights, along with a front and rear spoiler, and SS 396 fender badging. The seller notes the wiper arms have been removed. Staggered-width Cragar polished 15” Weld wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial tires that measure 235/60 up front and 255/60 out back. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums that are said to have been serviced in 2020. The car is also equipped with power steering. The cabin houses high-back front bucket seats that are trimmed in black leather along with matching door panels and carpeting. Appointments include a non-original four-spoke steering wheel, GM-branded lap belts for all occupants, air conditioning, a Hurst shifter, and rubber floor mats. A Sony AM/FM/cassette radio and aftermarket rear speakers have also been added, though the stereo is inoperable. The seller notes the factory shifter and steering wheel are included in the sale. Instrumentation includes a 130-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, approximately 500 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The 402ci LS3 V8 is fitted with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor and sends power to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and 10-bolt Positraction rear end with 3.42:1 gearing. The A/C was serviced in 2021 while the radiator was serviced in 2020, and the seller notes that the lower gaskets and seals have been replaced and that the oil and radiator and differential fluids were changed in preparation for the sale. Engine stamping 12N118654 matches the last eight digits of the vehicle’s serial number. The engine code stamp on the left ends in CTA, which is consistent with a 402ci/LS3 engine for use in a 1972 model year Camaro. A replacement dual exhaust system has been installed, and additional underside images are presented in the gallery. Decoding the Fisher data tag provides the following information:
