This 1938 Chevrolet Master is a Deluxe business coupe that was refurbished and modified during prior ownership, which included repainting the bodywork in yellow, fitting bucket seats trimmed in black leather, and installing a 350ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes an Edelbrock carburetor, a lowered suspension with an independent front end, tubular headers, Flowmaster mufflers, Cragar wheels, VDO instrumentation, power windows, and a Pioneer stereo. Acquired by the selling dealer in May 2021, this modified Master coupe is now offered in New Hampshire with a clean Massachusetts title. The steel five-window body was refinished in yellow during the refurbishment performed during previous ownership, and fiberglass widened rear fenders were installed along with widened running boards. Additional features include a split windshield, dual side mirrors, aftermarket tail lights, and side-exit exhaust outlets, and photos provided in the gallery below include close-ups of the finish, trim, and hardware. Chrome-finished 15″ Cragar wheels are mounted with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. The car is equipped with rack and pinion steering and a lowered suspension with an independent front end that was sourced from a Mustang II model. The replacement bucket seats are trimmed in black leather, and matching trim covers the headliner and doors. Equipment includes adjustable headrests, lap belts, power windows, and a Pioneer CD stereo linked to matching speakers. The selling dealer states that the floor panels were replaced. The Grant steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column and frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges, and a tachometer is mounted on the steering column. 2k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, though total chassis mileage is unknown. The selling dealer reports that the ignition switch is temperamental. The 350ci V8 was installed during prior ownership and is equipped with an Edelbrock air cleaner, carburetor, and aluminum intake manifold along with polished valve covers, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt GM TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Tubular headers feed into a dual exhaust system equipped with Flowmaster mufflers, and a stainless-steel fuel tank is also fitted. Additional underside photos are viewable in the gallery below. The Fisher body tag is shown above and decodes as a 1938 Master Deluxe five-window coupe, and a riveted plate that has been painted over bears serial number 2HA1217137. This number is listed as the car’s VIN on the current Massachusetts title.
