ODOMETER
1932 Buick Series 50 Sport Phaeton

The Series 50 Sport Phaeton, the most expensive Series 50 offering at an original price of $1,155, was the rarest factory body style offered by Buick in 1932. Referred to as model 55 by the factory, only 69 examples were built, and it is believed that just five surviving examples remain. With the iconic Buick 230 cubic-inch, overhead-valve, straight eight-cylinder engine backed by a three-speed manual transmission fitted into the shorter 114-inch-wheelbase chassis, the Sport Phaeton was a nimble and luxurious automobile in the period. It remains highly enjoyable to drive to this day, especially with the ease of Wizard Control, a new-for-1932 system which offered free wheeling and no-clutch shifting between second and third gears. This ultra-rare, dual-windshield Sport Phaeton is an older restoration with a charming patina throughout. Originally equipped with cloth upholstery, the interior was redone in green leather to compliment the green and gold livery . The iconic Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels are painted light green to match the hand pinstriping, making a complete visual package which ties everything together. Although the brightwork on the dash shows the patina of a carefully used and well-loved automobile, the wood is in great shape and features the optional clock, heater, and a full complement of AC gauges. This very attractive and rare Sport Phaeton is sure to be welcomed on the show field or touring course at any Buick Club or Antique Automobile Club of America event. Perhaps even more rewarding would be finding an appropriate road and giving the legendary Buick straight eight a proper exercise.

FACT

Because, well, why not...?

The German Autobahn has no speed limits because Western Germany saw them as a Nazi relic. This became effective in 1972.
