ODOMETER
1947 Bristol 401 Coupé by Touring of Milan - Restoration Project

Bristol and Frazer Nash motorcars were both built on production lines of sorts. There is nothing unusual about that except for one particular range of cars. One '400' chassis was sent by Frazer Nash to the world famous Carrozzeria, Touring of Milan in order to create a one-off body for the new 401 series cars. This was duly completed and returned to the UK where it was disassembled and an extremely limited run of just seven further units created. These were lightweight sporting bodies and it cannot be stressed enough how rare these are, indeed they went on to form the basis of all the 401, 402, 403 etc series of Bristol motorcars. There are styling cues to suggest that this particular model had a former life in competition given its Perspex windows, fibreglass bonnet with competition fasteners and general lightweight construction although there exists no firm evidence. Supplied with this car is a separate standard two litre engine with skimmed head and block and gearbox. Presented in largely complete condition and including the correct, rare, handmade teardrop rear lights, this would certainly make for an exciting winter project.
