1997 Bentley Turbo RT
A new Bentley Turbo R model was introduced in 1995. Changes included Zytek fuel injection and appearance modifications. There was also a special version for the German market, the 'Turbo R Sport', which featured the Continental T's sporty alloys and carbon-fibre rather than walnut panels inside. In 1996 production of the short wheelbase Turbo R ended, leaving only the model hitherto sold as the Turbo RL - now known simply as the Turbo R. For 1997, the Turbo R was replaced by the sportier yet Turbo RT. The Bentley Turbo RT was the last, rarest, most powerful and most expensive of the Turbo R line. The Bentley RT came with the 400bhp twin-turbo 6.75 litre V8 engine of the Bentley two-door Continental T installed. It is visually differentiated from other Bentley Turbo R models by its sport wheels, colour-coded grille slats and colour-coded bumpers. Performance was sufficient; with a top speed limited to 150mph, the ultra-luxurious Turbo RT was nearly as fast as the sporting German luxury saloons of the time. The car's base price was £132,000, or roughly £40,000 more than the Turbo R. The Turbo RT was produced during 1997 and 1998 only, with 252 units produced. This 1998 model Bentley Turbo RT LWB was supplied by Mead of Burnham in September 1997 and since then has only covered 50,000 miles. Finished in vermilion red with parchment leather and piped in St. James red hide with cherry red carpets, this car is also supplied with some none standard features including painted radiator grill vanes, birdseye maple veneer woodwork and bespoke steering wheel. This Turbo RT is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in March 2015 and a history file which contains old MoT test certificates, invoices and correspondence which shows the speedometer was replaced at 11,971 miles and verifies the mileage of the car. This is an opportunity to purchase one of the last, and most sought after, Mulsanne Turbo's built.
