Chassis: WBSHD91090GD55312. 238k Kilometers (~149k Miles). S38 3.6-Liter Inline-SIx. Replacement 5-Speed Manual. German-Spec in Macao Blau. German Service Records. Spares Included. Clean Carfax. Private Party or Dealer: Private Party
This 1992 BMW M5 has 238k kilometers (~149k miles) and is a German-spec example finished in Macao Blau. The 3.6-liter S38 inline-six is paired to a Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox that was replaced 115k kilometers (~72k miles) ago. First registered in Remscheid, Germany, the seller purchased the car in September 2005 with 187k kilometers and exported it to Canada in August 2009. It was reportedly never driven in winter until it coming to the US with the seller in 2014. The A/C was updated to R134 in 2005, a new clutch slave cylinder and transmission seal were installed in 2008, and a new Behr HVAC blower fan was fitted in 2016. German service records are included along with spares, a car cover, clean Carfax, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name. Macao Blau paint is shown from many angles and a crease in the rear passenger door is depicted in the photo gallery. In 2007, the car received some bodywork on the front right corner after a minor incident and to correct some stone chips. The hood, bumper, and both front fenders were then professionally repainted to match the existing finish. Imperfections include various small chips, light scratches, and minor dings also shown in the gallery below. A new passenger-side black bumper insert is included in the sale. The original owner ordered the car without model designation badging, though new lettering is included in the sale. European-market E34s featured reflector-free bumper trim and no fender-mounted side markers. Stock amber corners are present along with ellipsoid low beams and E-code highs. With the exception of a windshield replacement in 2009, the glass is original and is accompanied by optional Shadowline black trim. Staggered original M System I Turbine factory wheels wear Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires with good tread remaining. The car retains its stock self-leveling rear suspension, which reportedly works well. The right-rear shock weeps when the car sits for long periods, and there is a used left rear shock included in the sale that can be modified to fit. A complete tool kit, German road-hazard orange triangle, and the original factory full-size spare are included. This car is equipped with functioning dual-zone Automatic HVAC controls, and a BMW fire extinguisher and a first aid kit are mounted under the front seats. The rear door panels are starting to delaminate and the rear sunshade has been manually rolled and stored in the rear deck. The interior is claimed to be stock with the exception of a newer BMW Business CD radio and an aftermarket speaker system with amplifiers installed by the original owner in 1991. New floor mats were added in 2006. The 3.6-liter S38 is said to be free of outstanding issues aside from a minor oil leak from the original cam chain tensioner. Maintenance included annual synthetic oil and filter changes since 2005 using 15W-50 Mobil-1. A magnetic oil plug was recently installed, and the car passed Canadian emissions testing in 2009, 2011, and 2013. In 2016, a flush of the cooling system was performed and a new cabin air filter and fuel filter were added. The original keys, owner’s manuals in English and German, and German service records are included. The seller amassed used spare parts while living in Germany including an OEM generator, Hydro Steering Servotronic unit, emission control air pump, automatic air conditioning control panel, onboard computer input unit, electric seat switches, sliding roof switch, sliding roof motor, all power window switches, a power mirror switch, general control module, body control module, ABS control module, and a check control module in addition to multiple relays and a Peake Research Service Indicator Reset Tool. All items are shown in the photo gallery. The Carfax report dates back to 2009 and shows the car moving from Ontario to Florida in 2015.
