ODOMETER
2003 BMW B10 Alpina V8S

Since 1983 Alpina has been recognized by the German Federal Ministry of Transport as an automobile manufacturer, thus Alpina-built cars are branded and registered as Alpina instead of BMW, although an Alpina can be bought and serviced at some BMW dealerships, and covered if there is a warranty issue. Distinctive features of Alpina vehicles are larger alloy wheels, “Alpina Blue” patented metallic paint, in addition to expensive interior materials used to fabricate the exclusive interior appointments.
A typical blue and green pattern is often used on interior parts such as stitching’s on leather and different fabrics used in the upholstery. A thin, pinstriped style outside body decor set in gold or silver is also a hallmark of Alpina cars. A metal plate inside also proves the heritage and the serial number of the car. The second generation of the Alpina B10 was based on the BMW E34, based on the BMW 525ix, 535i or 540i.
The third generation B10 was built with the option of three engines including a 6 cylinder and two 8 cylinder engines. The two V8 engines with 4.6 (B10 V8) and 4.8 liters (B10 V8S) come from the BMW 540i. Again, a larger displacement was achieved by boring the engine block, which, together with other modifications, increased the power to 250 kW (335 hp), then to 255 kW (342 hp) for the 4.6 litre engine, and 276 kW (370 hp) through an increased stroke with the 4.8 litre engine.
This particular example is the rarest specification, a B10 V8S chassis 097, of which 213 were made with 42 in right hand drive. This is the most sought after combination of the 4837cc V8 engine, black exterior and white/tan interior with green/blue Alpina detailing. The car has covered just 69k miles in the last 16 years and comes with full documented service history and a recent MOT. Recently refurbished 19 inch Alpina alloys are shod with recently replaced Michelin Sport tyres on the rears with good tread depth on the front. The interior is in excellent condition, with no wear on the seat bolsters and front seats benefit from electrics including heating functionality. The engine and running gear are all in excellent order. The engine has undergone a rebuild in the current vendor’s ownership, and the car has benefitted from an extensive amount of new Alpina and BMW genuine parts. This includes a new Alpina 4837cc engine block and an exhaustive list of mechanical parts to bring the car up to excellent running order.
The automatic gearbox has been remapped by Alpina to change through the gears quicker allowing for such a smooth drive. Finally, shifting gears can be controlled by touchtronic through the Alpina steering wheel when required. This rare but understates model is expected to become a useable future investment and warrants further inspection to the discerning BMW enthusiast.

FACT

Because, well, why not...?

The first person to perform a successful C-section in South Africa was Dr. James Barry...a doctor who was actually a woman.

This is the only one of these in the database for the moment!
