This 1990 BMW 325i was sold new at Allison Bavarian in Sunnyvale, California, and is believed to have remained in the San Francisco Bay Area since. It was acquired by the seller in July 2019 and is finished in Calypso Red over Natural leatherette. Power is provided by a 2.5-liter M20 inline-six, and equipment includes a five-speed manual transmission, Miller MAF conversion, sport seats, air conditioning, lowering springs, Bilstein dampers, and an aftermarket stereo. Maintenance preformed during current ownership consisted of brake work as well as installing a new radiator and a rebuilt driveshaft. This four-door E30 is now offered at no reserve with service records, a May 2021 emissions certificate, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. The car is finished in Calypsorot and features ellipsoid headlamps and factory chrome trim around the side windows. Per the seller, the fog lights appear to be replacement units, as they do not match the harness and are not plugged in. A detailing service was recently performed, a ceramic coating was applied, and the left-rear door window was also replaced after a break-in incident. Areas of failure and staining of the clearcoat are noted on the hood, roof, and trunk lid and are shown in the gallery below along with body panel VIN stickers and paint meter readings of between 3.2 and 6.9 mils. 16×8” Rota Slipstream wheels were fitted during prior ownership and wear 205/50 Bridgestone tires showing 2014 date codes. Additional modifications include Dinan lowering springs, custom-valved Bilstein dampers, a convertible front sway bar, an M3 rear sway bar, and polyurethane bushings that raise the rear subframe. During current ownership the car has received new front brake calipers along with new rotors and pads all around. A rebuilt driveshaft was also installed, and the exhaust hangers were replaced. Sport seats have replaced factory comfort units and match the Natur leatherette rear seat, door panels, and carpeting. Cracking is visible on the driver’s lower bolster and center cover. An Alpine CD player is connected to door-mounted tweeters, four speakers, and a low-profile 8” subwoofer in the trunk. The window switch in the left-rear door does not raise the window, and the seller notes that the manual sunroof does open and close, but requires extra effort and should be adjusted before frequent use. An airbag-equipped steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer and 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for fuel level, fuel economy, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer is said to work intermittently and shows approximately 165k miles. Total mileage is unknown. The 2.5-liter M20 inline-six was rated for 168 horsepower and 164 lb-ft of torque when new. The cylinder head gasket was replaced during prior ownership, and modifications include a Miller MAF conversion, 17.5-pound M50 fuel injectors, and a stainless steel cat-back exhaust. During the last two years the oil pan drain was repaired and the car was fitted with a new valve cover gasket, oil pressure sender, radiator, upper and lower radiator hoses, and engine mounts. A receipt from a May 2021 pre-sale inspection is provided in the gallery and notes seepage from the power steering system, camshaft seal, oil filter housing, and oil cooler lines as well as surface cracks in the driveshaft flex disc and CV boots. A concurrent compression test returned readings of 170-175 psi on each cylinder. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The seller notes the front control arm bushings should be replaced and the steering wheel is off-center, and that a driveline vibration is present at highway speeds. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery. Owner’s manuals and records dating back to 2004 will accompany the car along with a California smog certificate from May 2021. The Carfax report is free of accidents and shows history in California from its first update in 1993 through the most recent entry in 2021.
