This 1974 BMW 2002tii has 162k miles and is a two-owner example that has been with the seller for 26 years. The seller is Allen Hardy, who purchased the car with 128k miles in June 1990 from the original owner and is one half of Bay Area BMW Specialists Hardy & Beck. Service records date to October 1979 and document work completed by the seller, including installation of the rebuilt Euro-spec 2.0L M10 inline-four, rebuilt 5-speed manual gearbox, limited-slip differential, H&B wheels, body kit, and upgraded suspension. 34k miles have been added since completion of the refurbishment, and the car was featured in Bimmer Magazine in August 2016 as shown in the gallery. This 2002tii is now being offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name. Originally Sahara Beige, the car was refinished in BMW Bronzit Metallic in 1993. Door panels, interior panels, trim, and glass were removed for completion of the paintwork. At the same time, H&B fender flares and an air dam were installed and painted to match. Anti-rust treatment was added before reassembly along with extra sound damping. Custom-built H&B 3-piece light alloy wheels measure 15×6.5″ in front and 15×7.5” out back. They were fitted with new low-profile Dunlop rubber last year. Front and rear seats were rebuilt with BMW original equipment horsehair padding under the original Parchment leatherette coverings. A Scheel 203 sport driver’s seat is included in the sale. A carpeted cover has been fitted on the dash, and H&B finishes include an ebony shift knob and matching horn button fitted on the Momo 380mm leather-rimmed steering wheel. A new Kenwood bluetooth stereo was added since photographs were taken. Door panels remain uncut, with KLH planar speakers mounted above the armrests. The seats are shown in some pictures protected by sheepskin covers. The Euro-spec 2.0L M10 inline-four was rebuilt by Hardy over the course of his ownership. The engine was balanced, blue printed, ported, and polished. The stock camshaft was retained, and an MSD multi-spark electronic ignition with a Pertronix ignitor and 1973 tii fuel injection pump was installed. An electric fan was added and the battery was relocated to the trunk. A rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive and a shortened driveshaft and shifter replaces the factory 4-speed, and a limited-slip differential with a final drive ratio of 3.64 was fitted. An H&B chassis kit included a renewed suspension with coil springs, specially-valved Bilstein shocks, and a tempered 19mm sway bar. The car sits approximately 1.5” lower than stock, and the seller describes the suspension tuning as moderately firm. A service in 2016 included new engine hoses and coolant, as well as fresh brake hydraulic and clutch fluids.
