This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 is a left-hand-drive Mk I BN7 model that is powered by a 2,912cc inline-six coupled with a four-speed manual gearbox and optional overdrive. The car was exported to a dealer in Seattle, Washington in December 1959, and came equipped from the factory with optional wire wheels, an adjustable steering column, heater, laminated windscreen, and road speed tires. A restoration was commissioned by the previous owner in the late 1990s, with work under Austin-Healey specialist Sean Johnson including a bare metal repaint, a refurbishment of the interior, and a rebuild of the engine. The current owner acquired the car seven years ago, and approximately 1,400 miles have been added since. This BN7 is titled as a 1961 model and is being offered on behalf of the current owner with records, various manuals, a concours guide book, BMI Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title. The car is one of an estimated 2,825 Mk I BN7s built from 1959 to 1961. The factory Healey Blue paint was removed when the body was stripped to bare metal during the restoration in 2002. It was repainted in its current Colorado Red and black two-tone color scheme using DuPont Centari acrylic enamel products. Chrome trim was either refinished or replaced, and new rubber seals were installed. A black convertible top and side curtains are included along with a black tonneau cover. 15″ chrome wire wheels with knock-off hubs wear Michelin Radial X tires. The trunk-mounted spare wire wheel is painted silver and is fitted with a Vredestein Sprint+S80 tire. Originally trimmed in blue, the interior has been refurbished with black leather upholstery and red piping on the seats and center arm rest, black door panels, and black carpets. A banjo steering wheel is fitted, and the optional heater controls are located in the center of the dash. Smiths instrumentation includes a 6k-rpm tachometer and a 120-mph speedometer that hosts a five-digit odometer indicating 99k miles. The current owner has added 1,400 miles during his seven years of ownership. The numbers-matching 2,912cc C-Series inline-six is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox with optional electric overdrive, and was reportedly rebuilt under previous ownership by Autosport Seattle in Washington in 2002. An aluminum alloy oil pan has been installed. The stamp for engine number 29D-RU-H/7399 is pictured above and matches the BMI Heritage Trust certificate. The car was last serviced with an oil/filter change in 2016, approximately 600 miles ago. Additional photographs of the underbody can be seen in the gallery below. Service records date back to 2002 and include receipts from the restoration process. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate states that this car was built on December 1-2, 1959 finished in Healey Blue with a blue top and upholstery. The vehicle was dispatched to Seattle, Washington later that month, and the original engine, chassis, and body numbers are also listed. The car is said to have received several awards including Best in Show at the Portland, Oregon All British Field Meet. An autographed Norman Nock Tech Talk book, concours guide book, workshop manual, and original Austin-Healey parts book are also included. A start up and driving video can be seen below, and additional driving videos are available for viewing on the seller’s .
