ODOMETER
1978 Aston Martin V8 Volante by ‘Daytona’

With the demise of the DB6 Mk. II Volante in 1970, Aston Martin were not able to offer a convertible motorcar until 1977 with the introduction of the V8 Volante. This presented the opportunity for enterprising engineering companies to occupy a niche in the marketplace to supply wealthy customers with a desire for something unique and unusual. Arguably the ultimate in soft-top luxury, the newcomer boasted a lined, power-operated hood which, when erected, endowed the interior with all the solidity and refinement associated with the saloon version. Considered by many to be one of the most elegant of Aston Martins, the Volante has always been much admired, and rightly so. This automatic transmission V8 is one of seven professionally converted to 'Volante' specification by the Daytona Motor Company of London. This striking example benefits from the full 'Daytona' treatment including Vantage grill, air-dam, kamm-tail and bonnet as well as, of course, a full length convertible roof. Redolent of the period, the original interior also reflects the tastes of the time with a red leather interior and contrasting velour inserts. The upgrades are not restricted to visual styling cues however, under the bonnet; the standard V8 has been upgraded to accept a full complement of four twin-choke Vantage Weber carburettors increasing output to nearer 305hp and additional air conditioning as well as improved suspension to handle the power increase. No paperwork is present to confirm any further mechanical upgrades although, with the engine out, a full inspection could take place. This V8 Volante not only reflects Aston Martins developmental history in the early 1970's but presents in good order throughout and can be used immediately.

FACT

Because, well, why not...?

The same brain cycles that occur when asleep, still happen when you’re awake, but in smaller sections. Meaning, parts of your brain are always “falling asleep.”
