Ferrari unveiled the new Testarossa at the 1984 Paris Motor Show marking the end of production of the Boxer, the car that had been the flagship 12-cylinder Ferrari model for the previous ten years. Styled by Pininfarina, the Testarossa paid homage to the great 1950s sports racer that originally bore the name, simply translating as 'Red Head'; the rocker covers being painted red. The mid-engined, rear wheel drive configuration allowed the center of gravity to be positioned in the middle of the car, with a weight distribution ratio of 40% front and 60% rear, thus achieving excellent cornering and road holding ability. The Testarossa was produced with 16'' five-spoke 'Star' alloy wheels and disc brakes fitted all round; with 309mm discs at the front and 310mm discs at the rear. The Testarossa was larger than its Boxer predecessor; six inches wider and some 2½ inches longer which allowed more leg room. In addition, the temperature inside the cockpit was reduced as twin radiators were mounted in the rear; unlike the Boxer, where the single front mounted radiator had plumbing from the bonnet to the engine behind the seats, which made the cabin very hot, especially on a warm day. The distinctive side vents were as useful as they were visually striking, allowing excellent engine ventilation, whilst contributing to the car's unique styling. Beautifully presented in Rossa Corsa red with tan leather interior, this example of Ferrari's Testarossa was delivered new to Italy and delivered to its first owner on the 28 th October 1991 through Crepaldi Auto Milan, a long standing Ferrari franchise and the largest Ferrari dealer in Italy. Ownership changed at approximately 2,780kms in 2007 with belts and fluids serviced, whilst a Tubi exhaust was fitted to free up that sonorous flat 12; the original exhaust is still available. The car has just returned from a full engine out service with marque specialists Aldo Riti. Whilst under his care, both cam belts, belt tensioners and all cam oil were replaced as well as all fluids, oils and a bleeding of the clutch and brake system. The car garnered high praise for its condition and sits as one of the very best available today. There is a documented picture record of the car taken to obtain the Italian ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) classic car certificate, where the vehicle obtained the highest rating A1 covering chassis plates, assembly number, engine number and annotation of the original Glesurit paint code are all featured. Alongside the picture record, there is a brass plate from ASI and all supporting documentation to confirm the historic placing of this unique example. The owner informs us the car is 'perfect' and is 10 out of 10 throughout, boasting its original paint, it has only covered 2,863 miles. As you would expect with a car of this calibre, it is sold with the original leather service wallet, the worldwide representative booklet, the technical manual, all the keys and the Tessera di Garanzia signed by none other than the marque legend Mauro Forghieri. A genuine indoor cover is also provided. A fantastic example of the legendary Testarossa; supplied with extremely low mileage, increasingly rare to find with all of the associated original items this is a highly desirable and collectible motor car.
